Our cooperation with CK Zamek in Poznań concerned the development of a visual communication strategy with
taking into account the existing image and adapting the space to the needs of people with various needs, design of signage, advertising and information media, and design of prints. We began by carefully analyzing the existing visual identity and we pointed out all its flaws and took measures to eliminate the found errors in the existing communication of the institution.

We initiated the design process by conducting an accessibility audit and assessing the condition of signage on the premises, aligning with ministerial standards for the accessibility of public facilities catering to various types of disabilities. Based on the inventory, we identified the existing resources of the client, specifically focusing on elements related to directional communication and promotion. During the design phase, three crucial factors were considered: the historical significance of the interiors, the diverse needs of user groups, and the institution's budget allocated for project implementation. At every stage of the process, we collaborated with a qualified team of historic preservationists and engaged with CK Zamek staff, who inhabit these spaces daily, understanding their limitations, and, most importantly, anticipating the needs of the guests.

Our objective was to establish a visual system seamlessly integrated into the environment, effectively conveying navigational information (wayfinding), and addressing signage for various zones and rooms. Additionally, we conducted an audit and standardization of promotional materials and guide publications. We initiated the process with a facelift for the institution's logo. From this, we developed a coherent system of pictograms and lettering. All principles of the system have been documented in the logo book, ensuring proper and consistent usage by the institution. Our design choices focused on simple graphic solutions, clear and understandable messages, strong contrasts, and a simple and symmetrical topography. The outcome is an accessible and modern directional identification system, available in two language versions, tailored for the demanding and intricate spaces of CK Zamek.

We seamlessly integrated the graphic signage system we developed with the existing architectural solutions, aiming to aesthetically unify areas of different expression and character. Our scope included the creation of directional signs, office, and room signage. Once our designs received approval from the CK Zamek team, we proceeded to plan their placement and method of installation. In this process, we utilized both the existing fixed and mobile systems. Additionally, we innovatively incorporated directional information on non-obvious elements of furnishings, such as flower pots. Consequently, the historic space not only gained enhanced functionality but also acquired additional aesthetic value.

As part of our project, we updated the floor plan for the CK Zamek space. The space presented a complex layout with numerous rooms and intersecting corridors where communication paths of various users, including employees, tourists, and event participants, converged. Our team conducted a functional analysis of the existing plan and implemented necessary changes. We opted for a straightforward layout, prioritizing legibility and comprehensibility. This plan is available in both large format, displayed on the pillar in the main lobby, and in smaller formats, such as printed guides.

We meticulously detailed all activities and provided a rough cost estimate for implementation. The changes made are not only aesthetic but, more importantly, functional. They harmonize with the historic interior of the institution and, most significantly, facilitate efficient and collision-free communication, considering the needs of individuals with disabilities. In this implementation, one of the pivotal elements was the necessity to align projects with the specified budget. We successfully designed a uniform signage system, implemented across all rooms with varying functions. Additionally, directional signs were consistent for both the "old" and "new" parts of the building, the latter having undergone a revitalization process.

As part of the directional communication system, we repurposed a dozen advertising pylons that were already part of the institution's equipment. After suitable modifications, their tall and elongated form proved to be an ideal medium for conveying information and directional content. The abundance of messages, including two language versions and additional pictograms, necessitated the use of simple and clear typography. This choice ensures the rapid and accurate location of specific information.

As part of our services, we also designed stands intended for audio guides. This aspect of the project demanded a high level of sensitivity in design, considering that the stands would primarily be utilized by individuals with special needs. Ensuring not only the readability and simplicity of the messages but also the height adapted to the widest possible audience was crucial. This implementation provided our team with the utmost satisfaction, as it significantly improved navigation around CK Castle, making it more accessible and collision-free.
