Client: Brama Poznania ICHOT
Our work: visual identity, space arrangement, interactive installations, a poster, an invitation, a leaflet, banners
Time frame: 2018
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The purpose of the exhibition "The way the city looks" was to tell the history of the transformations that have taken place over the centuries in the urban planning of Poznań. The starting point of the project was five historical views of the panorama of the capital of Greater Poland from different periods. They were the main element in the arrangement of space with highlighted large-format prints presenting them.
LOGO
A key element of our activities was the design of proper visual identity. The logo was designed in two versions: horizontal and vertical. It became a universal element on all promotional materials about the exhibition.
ICONS
We designed a set of icons, which consisted of linear illustrations symbolizing the thematic categories they represented: the city authorities, community, everyday life, security, and religion. They also became a detail enriching the content presented.
We selected typography with special care. The role of typography in this project was to make the content visually consistent with the design of the whole project We picked a clear font with subdued colors. The decision resulted from the analysis of the impact of distance, slope angles and size of the installation on perception and readability of the message.
What was a truly challenging part of this project was to adroitly and aesthetically combine large amounts of different types of content. The consistency of the content, graphics, infographics and photographic parts was provided by the glue of consistent visual identity. Taking care of proportions and geometry of the whole exhibition also facilitated reaching that goal.
Undoubtedly, a particularly important element of the exhibition was the installation, which consisted of five illuminated panels depicting city panoramas, supplemented with an interactive countertop with information. The most important buildings of the city were marked on the panoramas. Numbers of buildings corresponded to the descriptions on the countertops, which we additionally equipped with buttons integrated with lasers placed on boards with panoramas. This unique piece of furniture was designed exclusively for the needs of this exhibition.
In order to promote the event, it was necessary to design invitations and posters. We enriched the invitations with original illustrations. We also created banners and graphics, which were used to promote the event on the Internet
